<div > The results are in: Solar power installations in 2008 are 17% up on 2007. All different types of solar power have been installed: solar hot water, solar electric and solar thermal.<br/><br/>However, the less expensive solar hot water has had the biggest growth in the residential market.<br/><br/> The leading states: Hawaii installed the most solar hot water heaters. Florida and California were the runners up. California installed the most solar electric panels with 17.8 megawatts installed.<br/><br/>Large solar power plants are also in the works. With 6 gigawatts currently under development, solar power production is certainly on the move. (8.78 gigawatts is the current solar capacity of the entire US.) </div>
